How to Quick Link Competition Entries for Clubs (Websites)

Searching for Club, Region, State or National competitions can be tricky for some users and to aid in find competitions, we have created this guide for quick linking competitions for any organising body and how they can integrate with their Club site. This will lead members to the relevant competitions through a single click. The following steps are greatly beneficial for Clubs who have a Bowls Australia Hosted website but could also be utilised for sites they may manage themselves.

Pre-requisites for this guide – To ensure this guide works for you and your club, you will need the following before continuing:

  • A Bowls Australia hosted website (or own Club website) and Admin access
  • Current Competitions hosted in BowlsLink available for entries

Setting up a Competition page or direct link from your site

Head to your Club site (Bowls Australia site – https://wordpress.com/log-in/) and using your Username or Email Address and Password login

Note: If your Club already has a page created for ‘Competitions’, go there to create the links, otherwise, follow the next steps to create a new Page.

n the lefthand navigation menu, click “Pages” and then Click “Add New Page“

Create your Competition page with the relevant information you desire. We recommend including a clear Header, an image, text describing the page and any other relevant information.

Next, you will need to login or be logged into BowlsLink. We recommend opening a new tab.

Head to BowlsLink and login using your Email or NIN and Password

Login under your My Clubs context

Click Competitions > Available > Click Filters and filter by the Organising Body to your Club or Region – Click Apply

Copy the URL of this page – this will be the direct link for members when looking for your events

Next, you will need to head back to your WordPress site Competitions page

You will need to be editing the ‘Competitions’ page and when editing the page, highlight or click the text that will instruct members to follow for BowlsLink Competitions.

Click the Link field.

Paste the URL into the link field (when clicked, it will open the link in a new tab). Click Apply

Once link is saved, Click “Update” on the top righthand corner of the browser.

Once updated, view the live page and click the link – this will redirect you to BowlsLink

Note: Clicking the link will open in a new tab. If you are not logged in to BowlsLink, you will be directed to login and once logged in, taken to the Competitions page.

If you are logged in on another tab, you will be directed straight to the Competitions page.
