How to keep your account secure

As the use of technologies and platforms like BowlsLink grows, the importance in understanding good cybersecurity practices grows with it. Whilst using BowlsLink as a Club Administrator or Member, below are some fundamental and easy tips to consider regarding your cybersecurity:

  • Avoid sending downloaded reports and exports via email – emails security and protection softwares may not be used by the recipients and cause data to be compromised. Additionally, emails can be corrupted and siphoned by hazardous sites or users, if not protected.
  • Lock Devices: Always lock your devices (computers, phones, tablets) with a password or biometric lock when not in use.
  • Secure Workstations: Ensure that physical devices, such as laptops, are not left unattended in public places where they could be stolen.
  • Dispose of Data Properly: When discarding or recycling old devices, use tools to wipe sensitive data from hard drives.
  • Create Complex Passwords: Avoid using easily guessable passwords (e.g., “123456” or “password”). Instead, use a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Keep Software Up to Date: Ensure that your operating system, applications, and antivirus programs are regularly updated to protect against vulnerabilities.

Club Administrators should also be mindful not to mark BowlsLink automated emails as Spam or Junk as this can affect delivery to other users.
