Creating a Free Personal Email

Updated 15 Oct 2026

As a user of BowlsLink and member to Bowls Australia and its Clubs, each individual is required to have their own email address as part of their account along with their own contact (mobile) information.

We understand that many users will typically share email addresses in other areas of their day-to-day communications, however, BowlsLink requires email to be a unique identifier for login purposes.

Some benefits of having an individual email account include:

  • Ensuring security and up to date information for your personal BowlsLink account
  • Avoiding missing information and communication from affiliated bodies such as your club, region or district, state or Bowls Australia
  • Allows greater efficiency when entering events and competitions as Email is often a mandatory field and without this, can prohibit entry.

This article will demonstrate and provide four common examples of how members can create Free Personal Email addresses.

If you use one of these companies (Google, Microsoft, Yahoo or iCloud) for other services you may prefer to choose them.

Google Gmail

Gmail is by far the most popular email service in the world. It started in 2004 and quickly developed a dedicated following of avid users, most of whom appreciate its simplicity, strong spam and malware protection.

To create a Gmail account, follow the simple below steps:

  1. From your device, go to the Google Account sign in page.

2. Click Create account.

3. In the drop down, select if the account is for your:

  • Personal use

4. To set up your account, follow the steps on the screen.

Tip: To use Gmail for your business, a Google Workspace account might be better for you than a personal Google Account. With Google Workspace, you get increased storage, professional email addresses, and additional features.

The username I want is taken

You can’t create a Gmail address if the username you requested is:

  • Already being used.
  • Very similar to an existing username.

For example, if example@gmail.com already exists, you can’t use examp1e@gmail.com.

The same as a username that someone used in the past and then deleted.

An email may also be reserved by Google to prevent spam or abuse.

Once your account is created, this can be used and linked as part of your BowlsLink account.

Microsoft Outlook

Outlook.com is Microsoft’s web-based suite of webmail, contacts, tasks, and calendaring services.

To create an Outlook account, follow the simple below steps:

  1. Go to the Microsoft Outlook website and select Create free account.
  2. Select a username (ex. [your-username]@outlook.com) and select Next.
    1. If your username is already taken, the Microsoft account website will ask you to choose another one. But remember, you can change your email address if you don’t like the first one you choose.
  3. Choose a secure password (must have at least 8 characters and contain at least two of the following: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols).
  4. Provide your preferred first name and last name, followed by your country/region, and birthdate, then Next.

You should have successfully created an Outlook email. You can access your Outlook email through your laptop or the Outlook mobile app

Once your account is created, this can be used and linked as part of your BowlsLink account.

To use it, you must set up an @icloud.com email address, which you can do on an iOS device or Mac computer by going to iCloud and selecting the Mail option. Once you sign up, though, it seamlessly integrates with macOS and iOS devices.

To create an iCloud Mail account, follow the simple below steps:

2. Select Sign in to your iPhone

3. Select “Forgotten password or don’t have an Apple Account?”

4. Select Create a Free Apple Account.

5. Select your birthday and enter your name. Tap Continue.

6. Provide your email address. This primary email address will be what you use to sign in to your Apple Account. If you don’t have an email address, tap “Don’t have an email address?” to get a free iCloud email address.

6. Follow the onscreen steps to verify your email address, create a strong password, set your country or region and set up two-factor authentication. If you choose to skip this step, you’ll be prompted to do this later in Settings.

After you’ve verified your email address, you can sign in to your new Apple Account to use the App Store and other Apple services, such as iCloud.

Once your account is created, this can be used and linked as part of your BowlsLink account.
