How to create a Signup

Updated 15 Oct 2026

What is a Signup?

Signups will allow ‘non-traditional’ participants to register for events such as Barefoot, Social bowls and more, giving greater accessibility and ease for first time or novice bowlers.

Utilising simple QR code sign-up and validated by first-party data (mobile phone number), with the option to also register to a Competition and apply a Participation type to the member, e.g. Program or Experience.

Participant Signup

Participants are people who have registered to attend and/or play bowls at your club via a Participation Type with a ‘Program’ or ‘Experience’ type.

Participation Type is a term used for a club run event for non-members, although members can also be a participant.

When creating the Participant Signup, the Social Bowls theme is recommended to use as this will indictae that these signups are for Program or Experience type events.

Programs are those members who will be actively participating in an organised competition which runs for a specific period of time greater than four session, i.e. School Holiday Program.

Experiences are those members who participate in bowls activities in a non-formal basis, i.e. barefoot bowls or a private function.

Membership Signup

Memberships can also be used via the Signups functionality and like creating a Participation Type, any existing or new Membership Types can be created and linked to the Signup.

When creating a Membership Signup, the Memberships theme is recommended to use as this will indicate that these signups are for Competition, Social or Non-player type member.

To create these, please see here the link to Membership Types support article.

The Participation module will be located on the lefthand navigation menu of an administrator account, with Signups as a sub-header in the Participation and Membership modules.

The benefits to introducing Signups to your Club, District, Region or Association are:

  • Greater ease and accessibility to registering for social bowls
  • Creates a clear difference between long-term, traditional bowlers and short-term, visiting bowlers
  • Improves Data Reporting and segmentation of Members and Participants
  • Less confusion and greater transparency around affiliation fees
