How to Find and Register for Competitions via BowlsLink App

A key development of the new BowlsLink App is the ability for members to register and pay for competitions via a mobile device. This much requested development will simplify entry and give greater accessibility for registrations, anytime, anywhere (as long as mobile data is available).

Finding a Competition

Members can find a competition via either the ‘Competitions’ dashboard menu item or, going to ‘More’ on the app dashboard and clicking Find Competitions.

When searching for Competitions, there are default bodies available to search by. These include:

  • My Club – these are competitions hosted by your Club or Clubs
  • My State – these are competitions hosted by your State or Territory authority
  • My Region – these are competitions hosted by the Region/District/Zone which your Club is affiliated
  • National – these are competitions hosted by Bowls Australia

Selecting these options will show the corresponding competitions.

If the competition is not showing under these options, it can be found using the available filters. These include:

  • Location – takes into account the member’s location based on their profile location or geolocation and within a specified kilometer distance
  • Format – Singles, Pairs, Triples or Fours
  • Start and End Date
  • Search Term – manual search for competition by name
  • Region – these can filter filtered by Club, State, Region and National OR, removed altogether to show ALL competitions available

Note, restrictions may be applied to competitions as per the organising body and may not show, i.e. Financial requirements, Gender, Club Membership, Certification and others.

When the Competition has been found, click Enter.

The flow for how Competitions displays in the BowlsLink App are as below –

  • Competitions in Draft will not show on the App
  • Once Completed the Competition will no longer show on the App (we will have a filter for this in a future release (Completed))
  • Competitions will appear under Competitions when they are Active and have a valid future date of play.
  • Once Entered the Competition will appear under a member’s Account > My Competitions
  • Once Fixtured the Competition will appear as an Upcoming Match

Competitions may not also display depending on entry restrictions such as Age, Gender, Club Membership, Financial Status, Club Group affiliation. It is recommended to contact the Organising Body of the competition for further assistance for entry.

Registering for a Competition

After finding the competition and clicking Enter, the first prompt will flag which club is being nominated as part of registration – if the member has multiple Clubs these will appear in an available dropdown, the Primary will be flagged in brackets and required for entry.

Click Select.

Next, complete the details of the entrants, including their Position, Primary Contact and any Additional Information (depending on the competition setup, this may or may not be required).

When all details are completed, click Continue.

The following page requires members to nominate their Team Name – if the competitions allow, names can be entered here, otherwise, the field may be locked. Also, there is another area for Additional Details, if required.

Click Continue.

Competition Fees are next – if any are set they will show the amount owing.

If the competition is set without fees, there will be a message outlining no fees required and to contact the organising body to may any necessary payment.

The final page of registration will summarise the entry with details of the competitor or competitors registering, their position, contact details, Fee Summary (if applicable) and terms and conditions as outlined by the organising body.

If payment is required, a payment method (credit card) will be shown for members to add. Once entered, click Pay & Enter – Note, these payment details are NOT saved to the app.

As always, a receipt is sent to the member confirming their registration and, if applicable, an invoice to pay for the entry.

The competition will display in the members’ My Competitions with option directing to the Results Portal and Manage – both these options will redirect to a mobile friendly web browser version of the desktop sites (BowlsLink and BowlsLink Results).

When the competition is upcoming, this will appear on the member’s Homepage of the app and in the Upcoming Events are of the app.
